BNEF: Proterra Is A 2015 New Energy Pioneer
April 26th, 2015 by James Ayre
One of Bloomberg New Energy Finance’s ten 2015 New Energy Pioneers is Proterra, a zero-emissions battery electric bus company based in South Carolina.
Furthermore, at the Bloomberg New Energy Finance Summit in New York City, those in attendance dropped a vote for the top three winners they would invest in. Proterra came out on top.
Given that the descriptor for potential prize winners is a “game-changing innovator who is revolutionizing the energy sector,” I’d say that Proterra was a pretty safe bet to receive the honor, considering the good year that it’s had and its leadership in the electric bus sector.
Amongst the other winners were entities in the energy storage, bio energy, solar, and wind energy industries, as well as others. As well as the award win, Al Gore even mentioned the company during his keynote speech at the summit — noting that he’s a partner in a firm investing in Proterra.
“We are honored to be named a New Energy Pioneer,” stated Ryan Popple, CEO of Proterra. “This is a significant time for our company as we scale production nationally to meet growing customer demand. To be recognized by Bloomberg for this effort helps underscore the momentum we are seeing for zero-emission mass transit.”
